Frost resistance

Frost resistance is determined by the degree of absorption of the tile (i.e. , it does not absorb water that could freeze in it). For indoor tiles, frost resistance is not required and the absorption rate is usually more than 10%. In contrast, frost-resistant glazed tiles have a water absorption of up to 3%. Sintered tiles with a water absorption of less than 0.5% are then suitable for exterior use.

Sintered tiles

Pressing them into moulds under high pressure leaves a minimum of air bubbles in the ceramic material. It is then fired at high temperatures, making the final product hard, strong and abrasion resistant. At the same time, it is less absorbent.
It finds universal use in interior and exterior, on walls and floors. Sintered tiles are particularly suitable for high-stress areas such as paving or building facades.
